On 6 10, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs convened a meeting of its Innovation Leadership Group. Zhang Zhu, Party Secretary and Minister of the Ministry, chaired the meeting and delivered remarks.
The meeting conveyed and studied General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions on forward-looking planning and developing future industries, and deliberated on advancing agricultural technological innovation. The meeting emphasized that we must deeply understand and accurately grasp the core essence of General Secretary Xi's important speeches, take them as the fundamental guideline for forward-looking planning of agriculture's future industries, conscientiously implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, establish and practice a correct view of political achievements, stay at the forefront of agricultural technology, identify pathways for cultivating future agricultural industries, proactively plan ahead to seize the initiative while maintaining appropriate pace and avoiding blind follow-the-herd behavior, strengthen policy support and scenario development, and lead the development of future agricultural industries through breakthroughs in technological innovation.

The meeting emphasized raising political awareness, anchoring efforts in the broader context of building a science and technology powerhouse and an agricultural powerhouse. It stressed the urgent need to accelerate agricultural technological innovation, focusing on key areas and critical links to achieve high-level self-reliance and strength in agricultural science and technology.

Strengthen platform development, focusing on emerging fields such as bio-manufacturing and artificial intelligence. Plan and establish a series of key laboratories, pilot-scale testing facilities, and concept validation platforms to overcome hardware bottlenecks in moving from basic research to frontier technology breakthroughs, shortening the time-to-market for new technologies.
Strengthen the system construction
Strengthen the overall system by advancing the agricultural technology innovation system, industrial technology system, and agricultural extension system in an integrated manner. Actively cultivate and expand the agricultural technology service system to rapidly enhance the overall effectiveness of the agricultural technology innovation system.
Strengthen project selection and initiation
Prioritize topic selection and project initiation by adhering to the principle of "industry defines challenges, technology provides solutions." Vigorously advance organized, systematic research efforts, rigorously manage acceptance and evaluation processes, and accelerate the conversion of agricultural scientific achievements into tangible productivity.
